Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
To all our Highbank families,
It is a very busy time at Highbank over the next few weeks and we appreciate that it can be difficult to remember everything that is happening. We have put together the attached Key Dates posters so you can see what is coming up between now and the end of term.
The first event coming up is the Good to Be Me day next Friday (27th June). This is a celebration day taking place across all the Transform schools where the focus is celebrating what makes us all unique. Pupils can come to school dressed in whatever makes them feel most themselves. This may be some sports clothes that makes them feel fantastic, clothes that share their culture or simply wear something in their favourite colour. There is no donation required.
In terms of the other events listed, letters with further details will be sent out in due course to the relevant year groups. If, however, you do have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
Kind regards,
Mrs Wan and the Highbank Team
To all our Highbank families,
We have a very busy few weeks coming up so will be shortly sending out a key dates overview so you can make sure you have everything in your diary. What you will notice is absent this year is our Summer Fair. Whilst we love the Summer Fair and the opportunity it brings to see more of our families, it is an incredibly large undertaking that, without a PTA, is quite difficult for our already very hard-working and busy team. Instead, we have arranged for all pupils to take part in an inflatable fun day at school – more information on that to follow!
We feel very lucky at Highbank to have so many invested families who want to contribute to and support school life. With this in mind, we are looking into starting a Parent Teacher Association (PTA) from September. We would like this PTA to work with Highbank and help support us in putting on key fundraising events throughout the year (hopefully including a Summer Fair next year!) If you are interested in joining the PTA, please let Mrs Wan know, either on the gate or by sending a WEDUC. We will look how many people are interested and go from there!
Kind regards,
Mrs Wan
Dear Parents,
We’re excited to announce our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair, taking place from 7th to 12th May in the KS2 Hall. It will be open daily from 15:20 to 15:45 - perfect timing for after school!
This is a wonderful opportunity for the children to explore a range of exciting books. You’ll also have the chance to purchase them - payment can be made using cash or card, so it’s convenient for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Miss Reay

Dear Parent/Carers,
We are excited to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday 6th March! Children are welcome to come in a costume or dress up as a cosy reader (pyjamas!). We have some amazing activities planned, including a BOOK SWAP.
Your child can bring in their old, unwanted books from Monday 3rd March. They can hand them into their class teacher or Miss Reay. They will receive a voucher in return.
They can then use this voucher on World Book Day, after school, to swap another book.
This is a fun, free way to widen our literary horizons! Highbank staff will also be book swapping, so feel free to join us!
Thank you for your support,
Miss E Reay

Good afternoon,
Thank you to those who were able to make our Family Information Morning. It was great to discuss our new values and how lunchtimes will look at Highbank moving forward. For those who were unable to attend, please find attached an overview of playtimes at Highbank. If you have any questions, please either speak to Mrs Wan or Miss Ishmael at the gate or give us a call.
Kind regards,
Mrs Wan and the Highbank Team
Due to a recent decline in punctuality we would like to take this opportunity to remind you about the importance of children arriving at school in good time. Being late to school can have a considerable impact over the whole school year. The table below illustrates the amount of learning lost if a pupil is late to school.
5 minutes late every day= 3 days of school lost a year |
10 minutes late every day= 6.5 days of school lost a year |
15 minutes late every day= 10 days of school lost a year |
20 minutes late every day= 13 days of school lost a year |
30 minutes late every day= 19 days of school lost a year |
When your child is late for school they are missing out on vital parts of their education. We expect that every pupil attends school regularly and punctually. This is a kindly reminder that the school gates are shut at 08.50. If you child arrives after this time, they will be recorded as late. Please also be advised that if your child arrives more than 20 mins after registers close they will be recorded as an unauthorised late which will also impact their overall attendance percentage. Arriving late also causes considerable disruption to members of staff as children have to be escorted to class when arriving late. Late arrivals to the classroom also interrupt the learning of all children.
We appreciate your support in maintaining good standards around arriving at school on time!
Dear Parent and Carers,
Free school meal vouchers for the half term should be arriving to families by email on Friday morning. Please contact the school office if you have not received this by lunch time and we can get it re sent to you by the end of Friday, otherwise it will be after half term. The vouchers are only live for 4 weeks and cannot be re issued after 4 weeks, so please ensure you use it before it goes out of date.
Thank you
Mrs Shelton-Bourke
To our wonderful Highbank families,
Please see the attached image for an overview of some of the exciting events we have coming up after half term. We are very excited for our values week where we will officially launch our Happy Lunchtime programme and our school values of kindness, respect and pride.
Should you want more information about our values and lunchtime approach, we invite you to attend the parent and carers information morning on Thursday 27th February.
Kind regards,
Mrs Wan and the Highbank Team
Dear Parent/Carers,
There will be no Dodgeball Club this Friday . Dodgeball Club will not continue after half term.
